Internet Marketing and the Importance of Quality Content in the “I” “Me” World

December 01, 2009 By: Gabe Category: Internet Marketing, Uncategorized, making money, online business, social networking, success, web promotion No Comments →

As the world of Internet Marketing and Internet Business develops and evolves the importance of quality content never ceases.  In fact, today, highly optimized quality content is extremely crucial in competiting with thousands if not millions or billions of other sites in all the different niches.  The old saying “content is king” never loses it’s meaning as we dive in to 2010.

Content is King in Internet Marketing

Content is King in Internet Marketing

Today with web 2.0, social media and the ever-evolving complexity of search engines, providing quality content is extremely important as the bar raises higher and higher to unsurpassed amounts.

It’s simply not enough anymore to write spammy looking or keyword stuffed content or electronically generated content as this type of content as it quickly gets overlooked, unseen and sifted through the many web content and spam filters created to make the Internet a better place to learn and use.

Internet Marketing Content

Internet Marketing Content

User-Generated Content like forums, blogs, social networks and more are becoming more important to the Internet world and in return large search engines like Google quickly and generously reward them for being so useful to others.

Large search engines realize that places where people can share opinions and engage in feirce communication or even allow others to say what they are doing in real-time is what people want.

The “I” / “Me” Sydrome

Social networks like MySpace and Facebook along with sites like Twitter allow people to express themselves and fulfill that need to be important or different from others.  It falls right on to the top of Maslow’s heirarchy of needs.  People have a strong need to be important or atleast to be recognized as individuals.  This is why more than ever you see much more “I”’s and “ME”’s than ever before.  Along with “MY”space and “I”phone, you have the “I”robot, the “I”Home, the “I”dog and plenty other I’s and MY’s playing a huge part in today’s marketing world.

In addition to user-generated content, providing quality information is vital as many older marketing methods are becoming “invisible” to many web surfers and people learn after a while how to creatively dodge the proverbial “marketing bullet”.  As at some point we are all sufferring from information overload and the need to sort the quality from the junk is vital to many people surfing the web everday – The search engines know this too, and as such, they will always cater to what the standard want… which isn’t blatent advertising.

Social Media Networks

Social Media Networks

So where does effective Internet Marketing exist in a society who want nothing more than to write about themselves, read about others or to get high quality information online?

We must be more strategic as ever as Internet Marketers and only provide the highest amount of quality content in everything we publish.  More importantly, we also must provide information that can’t be / or is hard to find elsewhere.  We have to focus on scarcity and value rather than blatent advertisement.  In addition, we can also compete by marketing in ways that accomodate the “I / Me” and market in a way that people can feel special, important and significant.  Internet Marketers must be able to “sell” the web visitor on how your product or service can benefit them, make them feel important or add to the quality of their life – even if that means somehow making them feel more important or helping them stand out in a crowd.

These Internet Marketing strategies have always been important and necessary, but now they are more important than ever and will become more so.  The more people their are in the world, the more websites and content is on the web, the more important it will be to create better, helpful and significant content while catoring to the very specific “self actualization” needs of the consumer.

Internet Marketing and the Idea of Success

November 07, 2009 By: Gabe Category: Internet Marketing, Memberships, Time Management, Tools, Uncategorized, article marketing, e-mail marketing, ebooks, list building, making money, online business, social networking, success, web promotion 2 Comments →

In the world of Internet Marketing, Mindset is crucial in creating success with your online business.  In order to be successful, one must hold on to the picture of success in their own mind, and NEVER let it go.

The Internet Marketing world is waaay to competitive not to.  Don’t get me wrong, their is tons of room for growth, although many so called “Guru’s” would argue that their is not.  But never has their been more of a need to build an income online, than right now.

In the state of the economy, more and more people are being laid off.  People are losing their jobs and living off of unemployment.  In Oregon and Washington, finding a job is almost a downright joke.

However, when one has a self-sustaining business as an Internet Marketer, they no longer need to wait at the unemployment office.  They’ve taken complete control over their own income and sustainability… atleast ideally.

I’ve written a lot on the mindset of success and it’s importance in the Internet Marketing world.  It is extremely easy to get caught up in the latest marketing craze, whether it’s getting massive traffic free, or a new source of online income, or whatever.  All to often a silent concept is preached in a lot of the sales copies, e-mail copies and in the information products that are being bought day in and day out.  And this “silent concept” is a killer, atleast from an Internet Marketing / Online Business standpoint.  The concept simply states that “The Internet Marketing world is too hard and near impossible… unless you buy my product!”

I mean, as Internet Marketers, we are taught to find the “pain” in people and act on it.  The same principles apply to the brick and mortar sales world.  It can truly make you feel defeated, if not careful and can dampen your spirit, creating a feeling of success being unattainable.

It is extremely important, I mean really, really, really important, that when we look in to the newest information product or Internet Marketing service, to keep in mind the following:

1.  Anyone is capable of success, if willing to accept it and go for it.

2.  Anyone who is willing to put in the effort deserves success.

3.  There is no “eternal” secret to long-term Internet Marketing success.  You simply can’t press a magic button and rake in the cash.  This may work for short term success, but it will never last.

4.  Success is built by endurance and gradual growth and following a system that is time tested and works and being able to make small tweaks or adjustments along the way.

5.  Repetition of a successful system brings more success.

So next time you read a sales letter telling you that you can’t achieve success unless you buy their product, don’t let it fool you.  Yes, information products can teach us successful techniques and provide us with extremely valuable information, but DON’T sell yourself short.  Inside everyone are the keys to success.  Most of us know more about Internet Marketing than we realize and simply cut corners or waste our time on some push-button plan that wastes our precious, valuable time, energy and money.

When it comes down to it, we have to treat Internet Marketing as a true business and not a hobby.  Many of us make that mistake and it takes a lot of time before we realize that is just what we are doing.  When we start taking our success and our Internet Business seriously and take action, then is when we truly achieve Internet Marketing Success.

Til Next Time…

To YOUR Success,

Gabe Killian

Internet Marketing and Defeating Information Overload

November 04, 2009 By: Gabe Category: Internet Marketing, Time Management, Tools, Uncategorized, article marketing, making money, online business, search engine optimization, social networking, success, web promotion No Comments →

If you’ve spent any time with Internet Marketing and making money online with an online business, then you are probably more familiar with Information Overload than you car to be.

Information Overload is a huge problem within the Internet Marketing, Web Promotion, SEO and Wealth Building Niche.

The Internet is, in its purest form, information.  And more of it than we can even imagine.  You can find out how to do just about anything with a click of a mouse.  Information is readily available, at your fingertips, waiting to be consumed for your pleasure.

internet marketing and information overload

internet marketing and information overload

However, information can be harmful, especially when being in the Internet Marketing business.  It’s a progressive disease too.  More and more information is being offered everyday and it is extremely easy to get caught up in.

From the latest “Next Big Thing” report, to the “Newest SEO Strategy”, it’s almost completely impossible to keep up with everything that’s going on in the Internet Marketing and Online Business world.

More importantly, information overload can distract you from being a functional online entrepenuer.  It can overwhelm you to the point that’s almost debilitating.  It can stop you dead in your tracks from making any progress online, whether you are an affiliate marketer, blogger, Internet Marketing Master, SEO expert, website promoter or any combination of the above.

There is soooo much information to be consumed, that it is simply impossible to do so.  So instead of being the next victim of information overload, consider the following:

1.  Clear out that inbox!  Unsubscribe from all those Internet Marketing “Gurus” that do not provide you with useful information.  However, save the few that do provide you with quality, useful information.

2.  Clear your computer desktop (both digital and tangible desktop).  Give youself some thinking room by organizing your desktop for full efficiency.  Try to put random files in their appropriate places and categorize carefully.  This will help clear your mind and focus more on your work.

3.  Sometimes a “To Do List” Softare can help you stay organized and prioritize what’s most important.  I use To Do DeskList.  It is free, clean, clear and easy to use.  It allows you to put your “To Do” list right on your desktop and prioritizes everything you need to accomplish.

4.  Create an “easy to follow” gameplan for your Internet marketing, website promotion, content creation, link building, article marketing, press release writing, blogging, etc.  Make sure to write it out and keep it focused on ONE THING AT A TIME!  Let me stress the importance of doing things one at a time.  Make yourself focus on just 1 subject at any given time, and force yourself to do nothing more!

5.  Set aside a very specific time for things like reading e-mails, going through the latest and greatest Internet Marketing Product, Reading and commenting on blogs, or just searching the Internet.  Don’t let these things rule your day.  If you give yourself just a little time each day and stick to it, you’ll be a lot less apt to be harmed from information overload.  The rest of the time should be devoted to sticking to your work and not aimlessly reading e-mails or “goofing” around online.  If you are really serious about making money online, you’ll really treat it like an Online Business, instead of a hobby.  Take these words to heart, I can’t stress the importance more than that.

6.  Set aside small break times throughout the day in which to go for a walk, stretch, eat a healthy snack, meditate or whatever to help clear your mind.  This will help with mental exhaustion and keep you from burning out on information overload.

7.  At night, write down one or two things you really want to take care of tomorrow.  This will help you relax and leave your work behind you when you are done.  Information overload can creep up on us, especially at night, when we should be relaxing.  Many Internet Marketers burn the midnight oil, reading emails, going on social networks like Myspace and Facebook, reading e-books and other things that can burn us out if we aren’t careful.  Be mindful of the direction of your thinking and allow yourself to relax when it is appropriate.

8.  If possible, delegate information processing to someone you are working with.  This doesn’t always apply, but if you work with a partner, or a group of people, assign them certain “learning” and “reading” tasks to break up the monotony and help take the weight off of you when working with information.  Spreading information among a group of people can evenly dispurse the information, thus eliminating information overload.

Many successful business people and highly successful Internet Marketers will tell you, “you don’t have to be the best at everything nor do you have to know everything to be successful.”  Many of the most successful entrepenuers in the world rely on a network of people in order to produce results.  They, themselves, don’t have all the answers, but they surround themselves with those who do in specific areas.  Try to focus on being the best at one or two things, and surround yourself with people good at the rest.

By forcing yourself to create good habits in processing information, and by not taking on the world, you can seriously reduce information overload.  Write down your “To Dos” or use a program for it, Stay Organized, and manage your time and you’ll get more done in a day then you ever imagined!

Dave Lakhani, who is an expert in the power of persuasion, has written a book on the subject called “The Power of an Hour Internet Marketing and Defeating Information Overload“, I definitely suggest this book for anyone having trouble with information overload.  It may just be the right kind of information an Internet Marketer really needs!

Generating traffic to your business website is vital if you want to make any revenue online.  This is the hard truth of the matter.  Website promotion and traffic generation is one of the most valuable skills as an Internet MarketerArticle marketing is website promotion via writing articles and submitting them, thus providing  you extra exposure, backlinks that provide a SEO (search engine optimization) benefit, thus giving your website more and more traffic.  The question still remains however, if that is all there is to getting traffic to my website, why isn’t my website getting a massive stampeted of visitors, flooding my bank account with tons and tons of Internet Marketing sales?

If site promotion and traffic is what you need whether for yourself or your business website then it should use a fine blend of On-Page and off-page SEO Strategies, Link Building, Advertising and other variations of website promotion strategies to have a well balanced promotional campaign.

Traffic Generation Secrets, Website Promotion Tricks and Article Marketing Strategies

Traffic Generation Secrets, Website Promotion Tricks and Article Marketing Strategies

In the world of Online Marketing and Internet entrepenuership, website promotion is essential for any sort of success on the Internet.  Whether you are an affiliate marketer or have your own e-business, if you don’t have traffic, your website isn’t doing you any good at al.  There are a huge variety of ways to promote your Internet business and no single method is usually enough.  Heck, you should be doing everything you can to drive traffic to your website.  The following are website promotion strategies, traffic generation tips and SEO (Search Engine Optimization) How-To’s to help get your website as much traffic as possible!

Write and Submit Press Releases – Press releases give you the clear and blatent opportunity to share all the many great things that your website has to offer.  You can promote your business unlike in article marketing (you have to be sneaky about it with article marketing).  In addition, press releases are one of the few places you can use direct promotion and generally get a high pageranking site to link back to yours.  Many press release sites tend to have higher pageranks and their links provide valuable SEO benefits as well.  If you aren’t using press releases in your website promotion campaign, then you are missing out on a huge source of traffic.

*  Use Link directories to submit your website to.  Using Link Directories are a great way to gain pagerank and promote your website.  This gives you exposure and a link from a niche-specific directory.  Directories like Yahoo and DMOZ have extremely high pageranks and are looked at as authority websites – Great for SEO!

*  Promote your website through blogging and writing in your blog oftenBlogs, or web-logs, are great for driving traffic to your website by providing updated content freshly delivered all the time.  The search engines love blogs, and so should you!  Every great business should have a blog linked to them, prefferably on their own site.  Many great SEO experts will tell you, it pays to have a blog!

Pay-per-click and other forms of paid advertisement are a great way to supplement your SEO strategy and another great form of website promotion.  Google Adwords, Kontera and other ad networks play extremely important roles in driving massive traffic to the websites they advertise for.

Article Marketing Secrets, Traffic Generation Strategies and Website Promotion Tips

Article Marketing Secrets, Traffic Generation Strategies and Website Promotion Tips

Article Marketing (Hand Submission)- This is where a great portion of traffic comes from.  Writing and submitting your articles to article submission websites offers a good number of benefits in these ways: 1.  Provides a generally highly valuable one-way link back to your business website which will help you in ranking higher in the search engines 2.  Helps in portraying yourself as an authority in your specified field, thus building consumer trust and interest and 3.  Depending on the article submission website, your article itself could rank extremely high in the search engines giving your website extra exposure.

Automatic Article Submission Software or Service – In addition to hand-submitting your articles to various article directories, it is also highly recommended that you purchase some form of automatic article submission software or service.  This can save tons time and money (Since money is time!).  What automatic article submission software or services do is they automatically sydicate your content to hundreds of websites accross the internet, providing TONS of backlinks and TONS of exposure.  So why not just do this?  Well, by hand-submitting your articles you have a higher chance of approval and getting your article on the actual article site.  By hand-submitting your Internet Marketing articles, you can choose the various article sites that you want to submit to based on ranking, popularity or other.  This is most often not the case with automatic article submission services or software.  Your article marketing strategy should include both hand submission of articles as well as using an automatic article submission service or software -  This will provide you with a more well-balanced website promotion strategy.

Social networks like Myspace, Facebook, Twitter and many other websites give you the option to create your own profiles offering yet another chance for great and free exposure.  In these social networks, the more you participate, the better, the more exposure you’ll get, and the more traffic you’ll generate!  Web 2.0 marketing has grown a lot in popularity as well as social interaction.  More and more website are adding various socializing tools integrated in their websites.  Take advantage of this!

Social bookmarking is another great way to share your various information accross the Internet.  Submitting your articles, press releases, blog and web content (and websites) to social bookmarking sites can significantly help your rankings and drive even more traffic to your sites.  The more valuable and useful the content, the better social bookmarking will work for you.  Want to save time?  Onlywire offers a social bookmarking submission tool that submits your content to most of the major social bookmarking sites!

E-mail marketing, like paid advertising and organic SEO strategies, should always be adopted as another form of traffic generation and a way to keep repeat business and build consumer trust.  Sending out various promotional e-mails and newsletters gives personality, builds relationships and another income stream to your Online business.

Whether its press releases, submitting your links to link directories, bloggingppc advertising or other forms of paid advertising, hand submission article marketing, using automatic article submission services or software, social networking and bookmarking or email marketing, every method has its strict importance in the Internet Marketing world.  Instead of adopting and using only a single method, try to learn and use a little bit of each and become a web-promotion “jack of all trades”.  By doing so you’ll be able to tap in a plethora of traffic channels thus supercharging your website promotion and making more money and increasing your business revenue in Internet Marketing.

To Your Success,

Gabe Killian

Internet Marketing – The Value of Being Useful

October 21, 2009 By: Gabe Category: Internet Marketing, Keyword Research, article marketing, ebooks, making money, online business, search engine optimization, seo, social networking, success, web promotion No Comments →

The Internet is a lot different than it was ten years ago. To succeed as an Internet Marketer, changing with the times is a must. It all comes down to adaptability with the changes that time provides. This also holds true with Search Engine Optimization. As time goes on, we need to adapt and change the way we do things in order to survive.
Adapt to changes in Internet Marketing and SEO
Adapt to changes in Internet Marketing and SEO

One thing is certain however, providing something useful is the key to success on the web whether you are an affiliate marketer, web promoter, SEO specialist, an e-mail marketer or just a small business with a website.  This will never change… In fact, it will only become more important and it will only become more of a necessity in the upcoming years.

Usefullness can come in the form of a product, service or simply content.  As an Internet Marketer, your main job is to fulfill a need to someone elses dilemna, and in turn, make money from it.  Google surely recognizes the need for usefullness hence its attack on SPAM like many other search engines and websites.  Google definitely rewards its webmasters who provide useful, unique content.

“]social bookmarking sites target quality content from Internet MarketersThe fact of the matter is that has more and more businesses go online and more and more people catch on to providing online services, the competition and the need for “more usefullness” will only become abundant.  Websites that provide human-edited content are holding the standars higher in what they consider to be SPAM-like content.  Its becoming harder and harder to submit articles and news releases “posting worthy” and more and more Internet Marketing enthusiasts are getting turned down left and right for content that wasn’t necessarilly SPAM… Just SPAM-Like.

This can leave the everyday affiliate marketer, e-mail marketer or web promoter discouraged as their submitted content gets thrown away like yesterdays trash.  Content that used to be considered “news worthy” is treated like dirt and doesn’t nearly cut it to the majorities standards.

Websites that don’t have proper contact information, too many advertisements, or have any advertisements at all often get overlooked as illegitimate websites and often turned down when trying to promote themselves.

So what is the key to competing in todays e-commerce world?

Simply, provide in-depth, hard hitting, quality content that is hard to find elsewhere on the web.  When in affiliate marketing, its harder to work with “dieting”, “debt”, and other such keyword topics.

For instance, Squidoo, a site primarily created for the purposes of Internet marketing, is now banning sites that have to do with dieting, weight loss, finance and debt, among a vast amount of other topics considered as “SPAM” – I mean really… when did the Internet become so censored???

Knowing this, think ahead and plan around the next product you plan to promote.  Try thinking of topics not likely to get censored or banned from websites you plan to promote to.  Websites that block certain words that trigger SPAM alerts can be won over by using variations of the words that are normally blocked.  And when in doubt, look over the websites TOS, and don’t be afraid to actively contact them when you think you have provided legitimate content that’s been marked as SPAM.

I am not sure which way this fight will go, but I have a feeling that its gotta go full circle sometime or other.  Good luck next time you try to promote your website… hopefully you won’t get banned.

To your success,

Gabe Killian
