Internet Marketing Gurus – What You Need To Know
In the Internet Marketing world, there are “teachers” and there are “learners” or students. The Internet Marketing industry is always changing and evolving along with all new ways of doing certain things online.
The proverbial “Guru” is a term that either makes an entrepenuer excited or almost disgusted depending on their experiences with so called Gurus of the past. Now the question often comes up “How much weight should I put on any so called Guru I come accross?”
Well, in the name of information overload, it’s highly important to pick and choose your tutors wisely. It becomes fairly easy over time to spot someone who is truly successful or just talking big with the screenshots of their Google Adsense account or Clickbank account. Heck, I ran into one just the other day with an obviously altered Adsense check right on their sales copy. I mean come on, how hard is it really to photoshop anything these days?
Now every now and then I have to take an e-mail list inventory and cut the fat off of the e-mail lists I belong to. Now, you seriously do not want to cut all ties, because that will only hurt you, your income and any buzz you may want to tap in to. But you don’t want to get caught up with 350 e-mails from every different list filling up your inbox with useless crap and telling you to buy the next big Affiliate Marketing Tactic, SEO Secret or some untold and mysterious website traffic technique that miraculously happens with a click of a button. Now anything that easy doesn’t work, and if by some chance it does, it can’t last and won’t put out long-term results. So keep this in mind.
The people I subscribe to are those that have been good to me by either providing me with quality content and don’t throw sales pitches every e-mail they send. This is just good business as usual. A truly expert Internet Marketer (or atleast an expert in e-mail marketing) will build your trust and do their absolute best to earn your trust. And in return, you may buy a product or two from them instead of from Joe-shmoe Internet Marketing Guru who treats you like a number.
Now only do you want to listen and keep on the lists of those who give you great content and useful information, you’ll also want to take notes on why they are probably so successful and piggyback from their successes. If it works for them, over time, it can probably work for you too!
Another great way of managing the e-mail lists you belong to is find the top professional on each subject and only subscribe to one pro from each topic you are interested in. For example, if you wanted to learn more about Internet Marketing with Blogging, you’d probably join Yaro Starak’s mailing list. If you wanted to learn more about List Building and Opt-ins you’d may want to join Ewen Chia’s e-mail list. If you wanted to learn more about monetizing your website with Google Adsense Ads, then Joel Comm’s list might be a good one to be on… and so on and so on.
Every Internet Marketer has their strengths, and it’s important to learn from those you feel are the best at what they do, and in return, keep your inbox clear of fluff and useless crap I know you don’t want to have in their. The Entrepenuers listed above, for example, I feel to be extremely knowledgeable, professional and the best at what they do.
To make a long story short, surround yourself (and your inbox) with those that are successful in what they do, and in turn, you can learn from the best. Remember, not everyone that claims to be a Guru really is, and most of the time, if they are, they aren’t going to brag about it up and down and make a spectacle of themselves. Whether you use the term Guru, Teacher, Professional, Trainer, etc. it all comes down to the quality of information in which they do or do not provide.
So take this inconsideration when sifting through hundreds upon hundreds of e-mails in your inbox, and for the sake of filling your brain with valuable information and not information overload.
To Your Success,
Gabe Killian
